Inviting Your Stories on Disability and the Church

What I Would Tell You…

What would you tell the church, over coffee, about your life with a disability?

Are you a person living with disabilities* (visible and/or invisible), a caregiver, or ally? The Theologies of Disability Working Group of The United Church of Canada invites you to tell your stories about your faith life with disability.

How has this made you vulnerable?

How has it shaped your understanding of God and the church?

You are welcome to respond with a spoken or written story, or by submitting an original video, photograph, piece of art, music, or other form of expression.

It would be an honour and a privilege of the Theologies of Disability Working Group to gather these stories, and we would take seriously and care for any of your contributions. These stories will inform work leading up to the 42nd General Council in 2015. Personally identifying features of the stories will be changed. The working group will seek permission from you before sharing your stories in a widely distributed format.

Responses can be sent by:

Request from Denise Davis Taylor - Faith Lift Campus Ministry, U of A

2/12/2014

Hello Administrators and colleagues

My name is Denise Davis Taylor and I am the UCC chaplain with Faith Lift Campus Ministry  at the University of Alberta. I need your help in getting the word out to congregations and local neighbourhoods about who I am and what I do on campus.

We want to set up a table and poster with giveaway info and items at public events congregations hold in order to help people to know who I am and what I do at the University of Alberta.

Would you give me the dates (or Months of the year) when you have public events (e.g. Bazaars, gently used, teas, craft sales at your church each year? If they are events where I would need to register for a table ahead of time I would need to know when to register. I also need the contact name phone number and/or email of the person I would need to contact in order to register to be at your event.

Thank you for your assistance getting the word out to people about Faith Lift. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact me at 780 906 8870.
